Mark Cavendish wins third stage of Tour de France 09
Mark Cavendish made history by winning the third stage of the 2009 Tour de France.
The 24-year-old is the first Briton to hold the green jersey for two days in a row, after his second successive Tour stage victory, and sixth in career total.
He edged Thor Hushovd on the line to lead home a group of 27 riders.

Mark Cavendish has won his first stage of the Tour de France 2009, with a win of stage 2 of the Tour, with a time of 4 hours, 30 mins and 2 seconds.
The 24-year-old Cavendish won four stages of the 2008 Tour and Sunday’s victory further enhances his reputation as the fastest sprinter in the world.

Sir Chris Hoy honoured by Edinburgh City
Olympic cycling gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy has been honoured by his home city.
Sir Chris, 33, was chosen to receive the Edinburgh Award, following in the footsteps of Harry Potter author JK Rowling and crime writer Ian Rankin.
The award was set up in 2007 to recognise outstanding achievements and contribution to the city.
A judging panel, chaired by Edinburgh’s Lord Provost George Grubb, unanimously voted Sir Chris the 2009 winner.
He received the award at a ceremony in Edinburgh on Tuesday morning.
Sir Chris will also have his handprints immortalised in Caithness stone in the City Chambers quadrangle.
