Dual Slalom Race – Nice Guys Finish Last Round 3 – Sunday 24th May

May 20, 2009 by Coop Dogg
Filed under Events, IW Cycling News, MTB, Off road

It starts on a mound of dirt, goes through a series of motorcross style whoops and then a simple ski slalom down through the feild to the finish. Riders were taking between 35-45 seconds to get to the bottom, so its not a long race, but does get you out of breath.

We will change the course slightly so its not the same as before.

Its free entry, but any donations will be used as prizes

*Practice will start from 10.30am (if you turn up earlier someone will be around, and you can help make final adjustments to the course)

*Seeding/Qualifying run will start at 12.30pm.
You get two timed runs, your fastest time will be taken, and then you will be paired against another rider for the ‘knockout’ Eliminator race.

*Lunchtime around 1.30 – 2.30pm a chance for you to rest, have a cuppa in the barn, chat about racing tactics and refuel before the eliminator. If weather is good i will have the BBQ set-up so you can char-grill whatever food you remember to bring with you!

*Racing starts 2.30pm – Riders paired randomly into a knockout system.

If we get between 16 and 31 riders, that means one heat, quarter finals, semi finals, final races. Don’t worry if you don’t get through, you can still have a ride of the course and cheers the rest on!

Its probably going to be a cold and dull day, but we will pray for sunshine! Hope to see as many of you riding as possible, it will be a fun day and a chance to do something different, even if you normally ride XC, with a low saddle you can still roll through the course fine and have some fun.

All riders ride at their own risk, and i accept no responsibility for any injury or damage caused on our land. All riders must wear helmets and appropriate protective gear, and i recommend you ride within your limits.
NO HELMET = NO RIDE! NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

Location will be the same as before:
Nodewell Farm,
Highdown Lane,
Totland Bay,
Isle of Wight,
PO30 0HY

Tel: 07815 680 782

Stick a post up on IOW MTB Facebook page if you’re thinking of coming along.
