Jeantex Trans-Alp Race for two island mountain bikers – Jamie and Sam Hunt

Brothers Jamie and Sam Hunt are undertaking the 600km Jeantex Trans-Alp race.

The Jeantex Trans-Alp Race 2009 takes place 18 to 25 July 2009.

Jamie, 45. and Sam, 46, from Newport, Isle of Wight,  have been sponsored by Red Funnel and Wight Mountain, to take part in the event, which has 1,100 competitors.

The Jeantex Trans-Alp Race takes competitors from Garmische to Lake Garda Italy.

Stage 1:  Mittenwald – Reith im Alpbachtal
Stage 2:  Reith im Alpbachtal – Mayrhofen
Stage 3:  Mayrhofen – Brixen
Stage 4:  Brixen – St. Christina
Stage 5:  St. Christina – Sarnthein
Stage 6:  Sarnthein – Kaltern
Stage 7:  Kaltern – Andalo
Stage 8:  Andalo – Riva del Garda

Cross channel charity ride to France by Fraser McDermott and Barry Read

Two friends, Fraser McDermott and Barry Read, set out on a 400 mile cross channel charity cycle ride to France.

Starting their journey from Shanklin seafront, on Monday 6 July 2009, with the final destination of the french town of Coupvray; a 400 mile trip.

Fraser is raising money for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice in memory of his father (with the challenge marking the anniversary of his father’s death), whilst Barry is raising money for the Help for Heroes charity.

Wightlink Offshore Race Team

Wightlink Offshore Race Team are a small dedicated group of Isle of Wight based racing cyclists.

Their main objective is to compete in a number of selected races both on and off the Isle of Wight in Cyclo Cross, MTB and Time Trials including some high profile national and southern regional events.

The Wightlink Offshore Race Team members are currently: Sean Williams, Dave Dent, Martin Piper, Steve Taylor and Greg Crosswell.
